Following the treatment of a particularly troublesome wasp nest last year, the owners of the roof space where the wasps chose to make their 2023 home were thrilled when I offered to remove it and take it away. The reason? To open it up and take a look inside after treatment with the Kerminator® Wasp Lance.
When I was called out to treat the nest in late August, I found it securely attached to the rafters up in the attic of the house. It had grown to such a size that its winged inhabitants were starting to explore other areas of the house, and when the owner was stung by a wasp who had crawled into a pair of her slippers, it was decided that the colony had very much outstayed its welcome. So they called me!
When I went up into the roof space, I could see the nest in its entirety. This meant that I was able to use the bevelled edge of the flexible end tube of the Kerminator® to pierce the side of the nest and expel a full cartridge of insecticide directly into the centre. 48 hours later the nest was dead, and I brought it home to open it up. On closer inspection, I could clearly see the indent left by where it had been attached to the rafter. The view on inside however, served as a great example of the Kerminator® doing what it does best – targeting a measured dose of insecticide right where its needed, with minimal spillage and secondary contamination. Watch this short film, to see inside the nest…
